Meet Merri — Merrimack’s beloved black Labrador and full-time comfort dog! As an official member of the Merrimack College Police Department, Merri is always ready to lend a paw when students are feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Whether it’s midterms, finals or just an off day, she’s there to offer a calming presence and plenty of tail wags.
Merri came to Merrimack through Hero Pups Inc., a nonprofit that places service dogs with veterans and first responders. Her name was chosen through a campus-wide vote, making her truly a pup of the people!
You’ll often spot Merri trotting around campus with her officer pals, especially her best bud and primary handler, Officer Charles “Chuck” Anderson. Chuck also leads the MCPD’s Community Engagement Program, helping Merri connect with even more students through events and appearances.
From campus events to surprise visits, Merri is always making new friends — and she’s never too busy for a selfie or her signature “paw-five.” She’s a big fan of belly rubs, chewy toys and spreading joy wherever she goes. So if you see her, don’t be shy — Merri’s always ready to brighten your day.
